# Curators

A **curator** is whoever runs a Metric pool: it chooses the pricing strategy and the pool's settings. This page covers public pools, which take deposits from other users.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Verified doesn't mean endorsed.** Neither verification nor the 🟢 Best Practices tier is an endorsement or warranty of any curator or strategy.
{% endhint %}

All pools on Metric are open to deposits by default, unless a deposit-allowlist extension restricts them. A pool that doesn't meet a tier's requirements is shown as 🔴 High Risk, so depositors can see which pools lack the safeguards. A pool that hasn't been classified yet is shown as Unknown. See [Pool tiers](/use-metric/provide-and-manage-liquidity/pool-tiers.md).

To reach the 🟢 Best Practices tier and attract outside deposits, the curator must become verified.

## What curators do

Curators choose pricing logic, configure bins, fees and safeguards, arrange price updates where needed and monitor the pool. LPs choose where to allocate their liquidity.

## What curators earn

Curators receive their configured share of the spread, which pays for maintaining the pool and building its strategy.

See [Fees](/use-metric/fees.md).

## Become a verified curator

Apply through the [curator application form](https://metricxyz.typeform.com/to/b6HVTTqc), or [contact us](/start-here/contact-us.md).

The process includes KYB, identity verification and due diligence. Most reviews take less than one week.

Verified curators receive access to the curator group, security-tiering support, tools and introductions to potential clients in Metric's ecosystem.
